Why I Joined The Headhunters: Dan’s Story

When I first connected with The Headhunters team...

…I was looking to start a new chapter in my 25+ year recruiting career. Over the years, I evolved from a 22-year-old novice to a specialist who led recruiting teams through recessions, booms, quarantines, and more. My path was unconventional; I initially attended Western Michigan University to study TV/Film Production and Writing, aiming to become a filmmaker. However, a serious illness in my family prompted a move back to Southeast Michigan, where a family connection led me to an interview with a local recruiting company.

During the interview, I realized recruiting suited my skills and interests more than I anticipated. Filmmaking involves bringing the right people together, a skill I’d honed and could apply professionally in recruiting. Five years later, I was managing a full desk—sales, account management, and recruiting—in the Electronics, Embedded, and Controls Engineering sectors. Many relationships I built in those early years remain strong today.

Recently, I felt it was time for a change. I wanted to explore new approaches, work with new people, and delve into new markets in this ever-evolving field. I sought a team that valued a collaborative, consultative recruiting approach. A referral to Bill and his team at The Headhunters was the perfect fit. From our first conversation, it was clear they did things the right way, creating wins for everyone involved. A follow-up video chat with Rachel and Anna confirmed this was the company I wanted to join.

Having met a variety of recruiting professionals, I can confidently say The Headhunters is one of the best teams in the business. I’m excited to open new doors together, not only for myself but also for my clients and candidates.
